Subur Indah Village Achieves Open Defecation Free Status

Multi-year cooperation between PT PUM and Dompet Dhuafa to Improve Sanitary Conditions and Health Outcomes
After 32 months of collaboration, PT Pagatan Usaha Makmur (PT PUM) and Dompet Dhuafa have successfully supported Subur Indah village in achieving Open Defecation Free (ODF) status. The milestone reflects a shared commitment to improving community health and sanitation through sustainable, community-led initiatives.
The success of this program--where all residents of Subur Indah Village have been confirmed to have stopped the practice of open defecation--is largely attributable to changes in community behavior and the construction of over 140 toilets through the collaboration among Dompet Dhuafa, PT PUM (PLUM Project), and the Village Government.
This effort is part of a larger "Healthy Areas" program operated by these same partners and that carries out 22 regular activities ranging from maternal child health, stunting elimination, tuberculosis prevention, non-communicable disease control, and more.
The Healthy Areas Program is central to the PLUM Project's commitment to improve community welfare in line with forest conservation efforts. We are pleased by this success which is encouraging for the Program's replication in nearby Jaya Makmur and Satiruk Villages.
